Petals and Power

I’ve always felt a strong connection to lions, their quiet strength, steady presence, and the way they can be both powerful and gentle. When I paint a lion, it often feels personal, as though I’m painting a piece of myself: calm, watchful, and a little guarded.

I’ve struggled at times to fully trust those around me, so I often find myself observing and analyzing the world to feel safe. That sense of awareness and protection lives within this lion’s steady gaze.

In Petals and Power, I softened the traditional image of a lion with colour and blooms. The flowers and flowing mane represent growth, resilience, and the reminder that strength doesn’t always have to be loud. It can be calm. It can be kind. It can bloom quietly and still be strong.

The small blue bird carries its own quiet meaning. I’ve always loved birds, and as a child I would often find wounded ones and try to care for them. To me, the bird represents gentleness, compassion, and the instinct to nurture and protect.
