Meet the artist

Trina Johnson is a Regina-based artist whose creative journey began in the Okanagan. For as long as I can remember, I’ve been drawn to creating, sketching whatever came to mind, filling school books, test papers, and any scrap of paper I could find with quiet doodles.
At the time, I didn’t realize what it meant. Now I understand that creating was my way of stepping into another place, one that felt imagined, peaceful, and safe. It became somewhere I could set down my anxiety and simply exist.
My early work in pencil and charcoal evolved into commemorative art, including etching on black granite. In 2007, I returned to fine art, where I now work in oils, acrylics, and watercolours, moving freely between abstract and realism.
I’m inspired by nature, emotion, and resilience. Living where I’m surrounded by nature, I find endless inspiration in the quiet beauty around me. My work often explores animals and imagined landscapes, using them as a way to express what isn’t always easily said. Through my paintings, I hope to offer others the same sense of calm and escape that creating has always given me a gentle place to land.
My work has been collected throughout Saskatchewan and neighbouring provinces. I am also a proud member of the Prairie Artists Guild and regularly participate in spring and fall art shows.
I would love to see you at the art shows!
